CSAB Counselling 2025

CSAB Counselling 2025 will be conducted by Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) for candidates who did not get admission in undergraduate degree courses in Engineering & Architecture institutes through JoSAA Counselling based on their JEE Mains rank. It is specifically conducted for admissions to the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), Government-Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs), and other participating institutions.

CSAB will be responsible for CSAB Special Rounds, CSAB Supernumerary Round and CSAB NEUT Rounds seat allocation. CSAB Counselling 2025 date will be released by respective authority after completion of JoSAA Counselling 2025 on official website (https://csab.nic.in/). Upon completion of JoSAA 2025 rounds, if any seats remain vacant in the NIT+ system (excluding seats of IITs), two Special Rounds called CSAB Special Rounds are conducted. 

Similarly, CSAB Supernumerary round counselling is conducted by CSAB 2025 through its online portal (https://csab.nic.in) for admission to supernumerary seats in selected NITs (NIT Durgapur, NIT Calicut, SVNIT Surat) for candidates with state of eligibility as Union Territories of Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. CSAB also conducts CSAB NEUT rounds to allocate seats of AICTE approved Institutes under the scheme of “Reservation of seats in Degree Level Technical Courses for States / UTs lacking such facilities in the AICTE-approved institutions” to candidates of the North-Eastern states and Union Territories.

CSAB Counselling Eligibility 2025

CSAB Counselling eligibility vary for all three rounds, below are the detailed criteria for each rounds

1. CSAB Special Round Eligibility Criteria

Below are the types of candidate eliigible for CSAB Special Round

• Type-1: Did not register in JoSAA-2025 but meet eligibility criteria.
• Type-2: Participated in JoSAA-2025 but were not allotted any seat.
• Type-3: Allotted a seat in JoSAA-2025 but canceled due to non-payment of Seat Acceptance Fee.
• Type-4: Used the EXIT option during JoSAA-2025.
• Type-5: Allotted seats in IITs and later:
• Seats were canceled after document verification.
• Withdrew from allotted seats.
• Took admission in IITs.
• Type-6: Allotted seats in the NIT+ System in JoSAA-2025 and secured admission by paying Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) and Partial Admission Fee (PAF).
• Type-7: Allotted seats in the NIT+ System and later withdrew from their seats.
• Type-8: Seats allotted in NIT+ System were canceled after document verification, and no subsequent seat was allotted.
• Type-9: Seats in NIT+ System were canceled due to non-payment of Partial Admission Fee despite completing document verification.

2. CSAB NEUT Round Eligibility Criteria

3. CSAB Supernumerary Round Eligibility Criteria

Clarification for Seat Allocation	Candidates eligible for PI reporting at the end of JoSAA/CSAB Special Rounds are NOT eligible.

CSAB Counselling Process 2025

Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) Counselling is an important process for aspiring candidates looking for admission to NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and other technical institutes in India. Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) Special Rounds 2025 are conducted to fill vacant seats in NITs, IIITs, and other GFTIs after the completion of the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counselling. This is a final opportunity for candidates to secure admission in their desired institute and courses. Here’s the detailed counselling process:

1. Registration for CSAB Special Rounds

• Candidates must register on the official CSAB portal (csab.nic.in).
• Registration Fee (Non-refundable):
• Rs. 38,000 for General/OBC-NCL/EWS candidates.
• Rs. 18,000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
• Candidates must provide accurate details and select their preferred institutes and courses during registration.

2. Choice Filling and Locking

• After registration, candidates can fill in their preferred choices of institutes and programs.
• Choices should be prioritized carefully based on the candidate’s preferences and eligibility.
• Once finalized, candidates must lock their choices before the deadline.
• If choices are not locked, the system will automatically lock the last saved preferences.

3. Document Verification

• During the counselling process, candidates must upload and verify their documents online.
• Required Documents:
• Class 10 and 12 mark sheets.
• Category certificate (if applicable).
• PwD certificate (if applicable).
• JoSAA fee receipt (if applicable).
• Any other required documents specific to the allotted institute.
• Candidates must ensure all documents are valid and correctly uploaded.

4. Seat Allotment

The seat allotment process is conducted in two rounds:

• Round 1: Based on choices filled, seats will be allotted as per the candidate’s rank and category.
• Round 2: After Round 1, candidates can either accept the seat, participate in the next round, or surrender the seat.
• Candidates must log in to the CSAB portal to check their allotment status and take appropriate action.

5. Seat Acceptance and Fee Payment

After seat allotment, candidates need to:

• Accept the allotted seat by paying the seat acceptance fee through the CSAB portal.
• If the seat is accepted, candidates must download the Provisional Seat Allotment Letter.
• Seat Acceptance Fee:
• Rs. 35,000 for General/OBC-NCL/EWS candidates.
• Rs. 15,000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

6. Reporting to the Allotted Institute

Candidates who accept the seat must report to the allotted institute for final admission.

• Online Reporting: Upload scanned copies of documents as per instructions from the institute.
• Physical Reporting: Some institutes may require candidates to report physically for document verification and admission.

7. Withdrawal and Surrender of Seat

If a candidate wishes to withdraw from the process, they have the following options:

• Withdrawal before Round 2: Candidates can opt to withdraw after Round 1 and will not be considered for further rounds.
• Surrender of Seat: If a candidate surrenders their seat, they may still participate in the next round (if applicable).

8. Special Round-II

• The Special Round-II provides another opportunity for candidates to secure a seat. Candidates can modify their choices or continue with the previously locked choices.
• Seat allotment for Special Round-II will be based on vacant seats after Round 1.

9. Seat Cancellation and Refund Policy

• If a candidate’s seat is canceled due to ineligibility, incomplete documents, or failure to respond to queries from the verifying officials, their seat will be forfeited.
• Refund Policy:
• A processing fee of ₹5,000 will be deducted for each JoSAA and CSAB Special Round.
• The remaining amount (if any) will be refunded by the participating/admitting institute.

CSAB NEUT 2025 Counseling Process

Central Seat Allocation Board for North Eastern States and Union Territories (CSAB NEUT) conducts the counseling process for admissions to engineering, architecture, and other courses in participating institutes in the North Eastern States and select Union Territories. Below detailed overview of the CSAB NEUT 2025 counseling process:

1. Registration and Fee Payment

• Candidates must register online on the CSAB NEUT portal and complete the registration process.
• A Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) of Rs. 5,000 must be paid through Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, UPI, or State Bank of India e-challan.

2. Options After Seat Allotment

After the first round of seat allotment, candidates must choose one of the following options:

• Option-I (Float): Allows candidates to be considered for higher preference choices across different institutes in the subsequent round.
• Option-II (Slide): Permits candidates to be considered for higher preference choices within the same institute only.
• Option-III (Freeze): Candidates who are satisfied with the allotted seat and do not wish to participate in further rounds should select this option.

Once the Freeze option is selected, the seat is communicated to the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) or NERIST for verification and approval.

3. Document Verification & Provisional Admission Letter (PAL)

• Upon approval by the respective DTE/NERIST, candidates can download the Provisional Admission Letter (PAL).
• Candidates must report to the allotted institute with the PAL and original documents for admission.

4. Second Round of Seat Allotment

• The second round is processed based on vacant seats after the first round.
• Candidates who chose Float or Slide in the first round, and those who were not allotted a seat, are considered.
• Newly allotted candidates in the second round must pay the SAF of Rs. 5,000.

5. Physical Reporting for Admission

Candidates who receive a PAL after the first or second round must report to the allotted institute for admission with the following documents:

• Provisional Admission Letter (PAL)
• JEE (Main) 2025 Admit Card and Scorecard
• Class X Certificate (for Date of Birth proof)

6. Seat Withdrawal

Candidates can withdraw their allotted seat through the CSAB portal after the second round.

A refund of Rs. 3,000 (out of Rs. 5,000 SAF) will be provided after the counseling process ends.

Withdrawn candidates may participate in the Spot Round if conducted.

7. Spot Round Counseling

• Conducted offline by the respective DTEs/NERIST.
• All eligible candidates, including those not allotted a seat in previous rounds, can participate.
• Candidates with confirmed seats must withdraw their seat to participate in the Spot Round.
• No online registration is required for the Spot Round, and seat conversion (if applicable) is done based on the business rules of the participating states/UTs.

8. CSAB NEUT Round Counselling Fees

CSAB 2025 Supernumerary Round Counseling Process

CSAB 2025 Supernumerary Round is a special counseling round conducted for eligible candidates from the Union Territories (UTs) of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Daman & Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. This round aims to fill the supernumerary seats available at NIT Calicut, NIT Durgapur, and SVNIT Surat based on JEE Main 2025 ranks.

To participate in the CSAB 2024 Supernumerary Round, candidates must meet the following conditions:

• Must have a JEE Main 20245rank and a State Code of Eligibility (SCE) from the UTs of Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep, or Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
• Must not have a valid allocated seat in the NIT+ system after completing all rounds of JoSAA and CSAB 2025 Special Rounds.
• Candidates occupying seats allocated in JoSAA or CSAB 2025 Special Rounds, and those who have not withdrawn or cancelled their seats, are NOT eligible.
• Candidates with seats in the DASA 2025 program are also ineligible.

CSAB 2025 Supernumerary Round Counseling Process

CSAB 2025 Supernumerary Round consists of the following steps:

1. Online Registration

• Eligible candidates must register online at the official CSAB 2025 portal (https://csab.nic.in) using their JEE Main 2025 application number and password.
• Previous registrations for JoSAA/CSAB Special Rounds are not valid for this round.
• During registration, candidates can update their gender and State Code of Eligibility if required.

2. Choice Filling and Locking

• Candidates must fill fresh choices for academic programs available in the supernumerary round.
• Choices from previous JoSAA or CSAB Special Rounds will not be considered.
• It is recommended to lock choices after finalizing them. If not locked, choices will be auto-locked by the system.

3. Seat Allocation

• Seat allocation will be based on the CRL (Common Rank List) rank in JEE Main 2025 and the choices filled by candidates.
• Seats will be allocated for the remaining supernumerary seats after deducting seats occupied in the regular rounds.

4. Document Upload and Supernumerary Seat Acceptance Fee (SSAF) Payment

5. Online Document Verification

• Online document verification will be conducted by CSAB Verifying Officers.
• If queries are raised during verification, candidates must respond within the scheduled timeline through the CSAB portal.
• Failure to complete document verification or respond to queries will result in automatic seat cancellation.

6. Physical Reporting at the Allotted Institute

• After successful document verification, candidates must report physically to the allotted institute as per the schedule published on the institute’s website.
• Candidates must complete admission formalities and pay the balance institute fee during physical reporting.

Special Guidelines for PwD Candidates: Physical verification of PwD candidates is mandatory at one of the following NITs:

• NIT Calicut
• NIT Durgapur
• SVNIT Surat

PwD candidates must upload their UDID card or PwD certificate and choose a verification center during the online registration.
